My mom visited me here and used my name and address on her visa application form. She fell ill and currently in the hospital with the bill in the hundreds of thousands already as she does not have any insurance.
The hospital has my name and address on file but I did not sign anything stating that I'm financially responsible for her.
I am wondering if a trust can ensure that my assets (house and savings) are safe in case they decide to sue me.
Can they sue me for my mom's bill?
Can a trust of some kind protect my and my wife's assets?
What do I need to do to ensure that the hospital bills will not be passed on to me.
If you did not sign any affidavit of support you will not have such financial responsibility.
