I received a phone call from my husband about the good time credit increase, apparently the CO's are talking about it and told the inmates, is this just another rumor or will this actually happen for real this time this year? I tried researching it but I have not seen anything as of yet for this year. My other question, he has a 42 month sentence for probation violation, driving with a revoked license, will he be allowed to go up for parole and get home sooner or is that for longer sentences only?
No, there was no change in good time credit passed by the Legislature in 2012. The Legislature has ended its sexxion for the year and does not start up again until January. I am afraid it is just another rumor. I have heard this rumor almost every year since guidelines were passed in 1993. They could take it up next year, 2013, but I doubt it.
There is no parole unless a person has a life sentence. You simply serve your sentence until you reach your projected release date. That is figured by taking the sentence length and subtracting earned good time credit.
