I was arrested in January of 2016 for underage drinking and posession of cocaine in NJ and am now on pre trial intervention for one year. My record will be expunged upon successfully completing the program. Will anything show up on a pre employment background check?
Your arrest will show up until it is expunged and then even once expunged some not most people will still be able to see what happened such as governmental agencies, courts, police and anyone who has access to the internet to see any records which were put on the internet prior to your expungment such as a newspaper article about your arrest.

The arrest will show up on a background check as "pending." Moreover, your record will not automatically be expunged upon completion of PTI. You must make an application to the Court for expungement, a process that can take anywhere from 12-16 weeks these days. Further, you must wait 6 months from the end of your PTI period before you are eligible to make the expungement application.

I suppose....on the other hand there are laws that limit the use or an arrest without an conviction...
