Hello, I received 2 court citations in Marshfield, MO. 1 for C&I accident and the other for leaving the accident scene. To make it short I am a female Canadian truck driver and while turning the corner I hit a stop sign which bent and broke a small street sign. I wanted to contact the city the next morning like we do back home, but someone had called the police and I was stopped by 3 police cars. They are saying that it was an accident and that I fled. Back home you don't call 911 for a stop sign. Now I would like to know if this will turn into a criminal record or just fines to pay and the repairs to the signs? I would hate to not be able to cross the border to do my job with a criminal record for a stop sign.
The case could result in a criminal record and put your CDL in jeopardy. You need to hire a criminal defense or traffic law attorney who practices in the county where the accident occurred.
