I just recieved my approved I797A but found that my last name had a ‘L’ in place of an ‘I’. My attorney has already filed for an enquiry. It’s been more than a month but we haven’t received any correction notice. I am going to India in December for my stamping. Will this be an issue if I don’t get my corrected notice by then ? Also would it be useful if my company calls USCIS helpline instead of just using their online system ? Why are they taking so much time to update my spelling?
This should not be a problem ... unless this is your very first H stamping.
Why is it taking, what you think is, a long time? They're dealing with thousands and thousands of H cases that haven't been approved yet. Plus, CIS has to update your information in multiple databases.
Have the company lawyer write a letter of explanation, along with a copy of the petition and receipt notice (which I hope has the proper spelling). Also ask him to provide you with an employer letter and several recent paystubs.
