I'm 53 years of age, my first offense ever.
Pending court date coming up In 2 weeks.
Will i be charged with a misdemeanor and or an infraction? I was not arrested, just a citation and court date. Can't afford an attorney,at my first appearance, should I plea no contest? Can this be dismissed to a city code violation a fine, probation? Will a representative for Wal-mart show up, can this be dismissed, could I be facing jail time? What should I be expecting?
What will I be facing? The officer stated in the citation, that I have been charged with a misdemeanor and or an infraction. I'm So confused as I don't know what to expect.
Will i be given the option, to plea guilty, not guilty, can I plea their and then, no contest? Will that help me or make matters worse. At the arraignment, can it be dismissed, give a fine, or court cost, probation, community service? Help me please, I wanna have some sort of idea
As to how to plea. Should I speak to the prosecutor or the prosecutor offer me a plea, I don't want this on my record, I'll take classes if needed, community service), what should I do.
I am guessing that you were charged with shoplifting at Wal-Mart. If that is the case, you will likely NOT be facing jail time. The DA's do sometimes offer dismissals in certain situations. You seem to fit those parameters. You can certainly talk to the prosecutor about a dismissal and they may grant it if you do some community service and other conditions, but it is possible. Typically an attorney can get these types of results for you with out you going to court.
