I was driving to work and got pulled over for having a bandana hanging from my rear view mirror. I had a couple grams of weed on me and a pipe. I did not sign anything and they did not give me a citation on sight. They just told me to watch out for the mail and show up to my court date, I'm not sure if this is right? Or they are just letting me go? They kept apologizing about the situation.
The police might draft up the complaint and give it to the prosecutor to review. That office will determine if they want to prosecute. Make sure that you watch for anything coming from the court. If you miss a court date the court might issue a warrant for your arrest.
Did they confiscate the weed and pipe from you as evidence? If they did, you are likely to be charged at some point. Sadly, they have seven years to charge you because you face a potential class 6 felony. Ridiculous, I know, but that's the way it goes. You might want to contact some attorneys in your area to discuss your options and see if anything can be done now. And if you are eligible, get a medical card so this does not happen again to you.
