My boyfriend is currently in Gwinnett County on a new charge and a parole violation. The parole officer is putting in a request for a transitional center or a PDC. If he is given the opportunity to go to either one, does he still have to go through the GA diagnostic prison for classification from the county jail or would he be sent directly to the TC or PDC?
He will most likely go to diagnostics first. When probation officers, parole officers, and/or judges make recommendations, they are just that...a recommendation. It would be different if he was sentenced to a particular problem. In that case, bed space would have already been sought out before sentencing. In this case he will go into state custody and if one of the recommended opportunities becomes available, he may be transferred there. Good luck!
