I'm on Housing and was told by housing that my portion was 197. My apts said that since i didn't renew my lease the rent went up from 800 to 1000. Housing told me that they cannot increase the rent without requesting a rental increase. So when I go to pay my 197 they tell me no your rent is 200.00 more and u need 2 pay it. And then when I came in to pay 500 which is the amount on the eviction they refused it, because they said I still have to pay late fees and my water bill because they can't sue for that. Now they're charging me for Septembers balance to which brings the total they want to 1200. So at first they refused the 500.00, but now your asking for 1200.00. I eem found that I was wrongly evicted can I take any steps to be compensated for my 9 days of missed work(that can be proved) and are there any measures I can't take to make sure that leasing office is held accountable for putting me on a bind?
If you are recieving housing assistance with your rent you should certainly contact the authority to discuss with them if you believe the landlord is not holding to the agreement.
