I was convicted of attempted possession of a controlled substance in OCT2017. I want to know if it will prevent me from buying a firearm or getting my concealed carry permit. I previously had my CCW but had to turn it in after my conviction
Depends on the actual charge. If it was a felony, then you will not be able to purchase a firearm. If it was a misdemeanor, then you might be able to purchase a firearm, however, the problem with the controlled substance may cause difficulties for you since any application ask about addiction to alcohol or controlled substances. So, if there was an actual determination on whether you were required to go to chemical dependency classes or whether an actual question of fact about why you were attempting to by controlled substances. Hope this helps.
