a personal injury case/ multiple car accident, whereas I am the injured plaintiff and my lawyer is going to a case management conference. the settlement conference was canceled, and instead it is a case management conference.
Sounds like settlement is unlikely, but you need to ask your attorney these questions.
Answers to questions are for general purposes only and do not establish an attorney-client relationship
It is unclear from your question whether the multiple car means that there were multiple injured parties, in which case one of them may not be prepared to resolve the case. Your attorney should be able to answer the question. Typically, it is converted where one party indicates that the case is not in a position to be settled at the settlement conference and one of the parties needs to conduct or receive additional discovery (information) or reports from an expert. I would not be too concerned. Unfortunately, personal injury cases take a while to settle and the insurance company defending them do not settle them very quickly.

Since you have already hired an attorney, you need to discuss this with him or her, as he or she is the most knowledgeable about your particular case.
Call the office and set up a time to go over your case in your attorney’s office. Don’t take no for an answer as to scheduling an in-office appointment. This, after all, is the reason you are paying your attorney. In my opinion, any further statement from me on AVVO would be inappropriate since you are already represented.
If after talking to your attorney, you are not satisfied with the answer your attorney gives you, or if the attorney refuses to meet with you, consult with another attorney in your area to go over any potential legal options you may have regarding this issue. You are free to consult with another attorney and even fire your current attorney if you so desire. You can use the “Find a lawyer” link at the top of the screen for the names of other attorneys near you.
Please do not message me for further advice or call my former law firm if you have any further questions. If you are in need of an attorney to assist you, please search for another attorney in the jurisdiction involved in your case, as I am now retired, and my former law firm is no longer handling these types of cases. I am active on AVVO and answer questions only as a public service at this point.
