My husband's company is enrolling with a new health insurance carrier and the insurance company is requiring copies of birth certificates for everyone on the plan as well as a copy of our marriage license and a copy of our previous year's tax return. Why would they need our tax return? Is this legal to refuse coverage if we don't want to supply our tax returns?
Sounds like they want proof that you're married.
