In August my boyfriend went into court and set up a payment arrangement where $122 would be taken out of his check every two weeks. They received all of his work information. Nothing was taken from the first two checks he received after setting up the arrangement and now he has a warrant out for his arrest and the arrears is up to $1100. When he called the Child support enforcement they give him no other option, but to turn himself in. Is it his fault that payments were not deducted and he wasn't notified about when they would start taking payments? What can he do about it?
Usually the payor is told that they have to pay the state directly until the garnishment goes into effect. He needs to go and make a payment on the arrears right away.
