I keep hearing noises in my ceiling. It's on the opposite side of the house from where the Attic is at. The landlord is telling me it's my fault and responsibility. I told him it's an old home it obviously entering from outside. He's blaming my living conditions which I live very clean, then saying I probably left a door or window open.
Pest control is controlled by the terms of the Lease in a rented single family home. Just check it to see who has that particular obligation. If the Landlord does not, and it's not even mentioned, then it's likely that YOU do. But that is just about the removal of the critter. Depending on where the entry point is, the Landlord might have the responsibility to close that up. And if your are not sure, bring your Lease to a good local tenants attorney for review. The lease that exist between you should speak to who is responsible for pest control. If you do not have a lease or the lease does not make it the landlords responsibility, then it may be on you.
