I live in 9 unit complex, my neighbor has a chicken coop in the back of building where the garbage cans are and our storage, now there are over 20 rats running everywhere in and out the coop and in the garbage cans my kids and wife are afraid to go back there, apparently the law in Oakland cal allows you to have chickens and the neighbor uses that excuse and walks away laughing I told the landlord but no results, help!
I am not aware of an Oakland Chicken Ordinance. However, your landlord has an responsibility under state law to prevent infestations of rodents on the property. Call Oakland code enforcement. Call the health department. Then let’s see who squawks.
