I am in USA right now and completed my higher studies. I am joining the US branch of my previous company.
They want to apply L1B for me. I was thinking should I accept L1B or should I pursue them to apply H1B instead ? Which visa is more preferable and convenient? Which one is better to get a green card?
What are the benefit or disadvantages of each of them? Please let me know.
Your questions require an in-depth consultation with an immigration attorney - not a free internet forum.
Your question right now is just hypothetical because the H-1b classification will not be available until October 2016
Generally speaking, both the H1B (Specialty Occupation) and L1B (Specialized Knowledge) visas provide avenues to obtain permanent residency (green card); however, I strongly suggest you to consult with an attorney to review both your background and the company so that you can determine which visa might be better suited in your case. Your question is too broad for an online forum.
We sincerely wish you the very best with your new employment and for your visa application.
