I understand my question is unusual. I suffered a head injury less than a year ago and still suffer from issues of paranoia and anxiety from the injury. I have an uneasy feeling that I have a pending charge or citation that I do not remember or aware of and worried about missing paying a fine or missing a possible court date? Is there anyway to find this information out by calling the courts? I understand this question is unusual but I just want to be sure. Thank you.
You do not mention what jurisdictions you are worried about. But regardless, yes you can call the police or court and ask if you have anything pending. Most will tell you. a few will not. You can also check on CCAP to see if you have anything pending.
Check CCAP here: https://wcca.wicourts.gov/index.xsl;jsessionid=91285E98F0CB3EB7B98C2A7551EE370A.render6
Be aware that CCAP does not have all municipalities covered. You will need to call the local law enforcement agency to be sure. If you do have a pending criminal case, I would advise you to obtain the services of an experienced criminal defense attorney. If you have any unpaid citations, you will want to address those either by paying them, or petitioning the court to reopen the case and negotiate a settlement (plea deal) or take the case to trial (with the assistance of an attorney).
