I got my Izzy in October of 2017. I was married in December of 2017. After 7 months my husband and I split up and he moved out. After 1 week he came and took my dog. He now won't give her back. I have a bill of sale written from her original owner, witnesses, photos and vet bills. Do you think I will get her back
Although we often think of our dogs as family, the law views them as property.
Because you bought her prior to the marriage, she would be premarital property unless you did something such as make her a gift to your husband.
That means that if you are in a divorce action, you can ask the Court to restore your premarital property (Izzy) back to you.
