I do not want to take him to court for child support but since I am on welfare and get cash assistance they want us to come to court to determine child support.
The matter will not go away if you don't show up at the court date. In fact, you both could be found in contempt if you do not attend the court dates scheduled. The public assistance grants the state the right to continue the matter until it receives satisfaction of the amounts paid out by the state.
