I had three court dates for our divorce so far. All went well. This next one should be the final one. What would happen if the judge cancels the court date. Do we automatically get divorced or do we have to reschedule?
The short answer is that you would have to reschedule. When it comes to divorces almost nothing happens automatically, however in some instances some of the proceedings can be done "on papers" meaning that you need not appear in court. If this becomes and issue with your judge, you should ask. Hope this helps!
If the judge cancels your court date you will more than likely receive a new court date. You mentioned that your next appearance date should be the last. If that is the case, you may be scheduled for an inquest, which must happen to finalize the court proceedings in your divorce. There is no such thing as "automatically" getting divorced.
