My boyfriend of 8 yrs moved in with me 7 yrs ago. Have been living together and sharing all bills since. I have since had medical issues-btk amputation and am on dialysis. He just bought a home 1 1/2 yrs ago , my name not on due to credit from medical bills but still paying my share of the mortgage and bills and food out of my social security disability about 985 out of 1300 a month. Our relationship has been rocky due to arguments usually stemming from his hot temper and quick to anger. Every time there is argument he yells, slams things, name calling, glaring, silent treatment for days but always threatening to kick me out. He is 46,I am 49. 85% of all furnishings in home were owned by me before he moved in 7 yrs ago. I know for my health and stress level I need to get away but most of the time he calms down eventually until his next blowup. He has not yet been physically abusive but emotionally&mentally he is. His anger scares me but I still care in a way. Have documented many of these issues just for the sake of it in case.
Even if your name is not on the house title, you could still be considered a "tenant" for legal purposes. He would have to get an eviction order from the court to force you out of the house. If you can show you've been paying monthly rent in the form of mortgage/bills, then you can argue to at least have the status as a month-to-month tenant for him to have to give you a 30-day notice to vacate.
