Im being accused of stealing lottery from my former store job and they said they are going to press charges (This was around last week). I just would like to know would it be good for me to get a Public Defender involved now even though I haven't received a Summons for court yet or do I wait until I actually get scheduled a court date to go talk to a Public Defender?
Depending on the circumstances, it may be that a private attorney could somehow assist you in seeing this matter resolved at this early stage, but the Public Defender's Office likely will not consider your application (for the Public Defender to represent you) until such a time when you've actually been charged.
