We have been wanting to add to our family for some time but don't think it is possible.
My friend is pregnant with her third child and has custody of the other two but wants to sign the rights over to this one for many reasons with babys well being at best interest. She is wanting me and my fiance to take baby at birth and raise it, we become mom and dad from there. my question is how do we go about this? Lawyer, she signs rights over, im not sure where to start or how to even go about the legal part? any and all advice appreciated. Thank you!
I suggest you speak with an adoption attorney in your area. There are many requirements for adoption and it is not something to be entered into lightly. There are also emotional implications from adopting one child from a friend while she retains custody of her other children.
I wish you well.
