Prior to marrying my wife, she was visiting me on a tourist visa and was removed at the airport and visa cancelled for 5 years. Airport incorrectly presumed that she was intending to work while on a tourist visa.
She would need to get an I-212 Application for Permission to Reapply for Admission into the United States After Deportation or Removal approved, and this could take a year or more.
