I'm on felony probation for vehicle theft and carrying a loaded firearm. Caught new charge for felon in possession of a Billy-club. I got sentenced to 1 year in a residential program. Suspended prison sentence 3 years 8 months. I went to the program for 3 days then left. I've been trying to go home to Utah since I'm completely alone here in California. Can I go home to Utah and get into a program there and be fine??
Showing up at the probation office tomorrow morning when it opens is the best thing you can do.
Leaving the state is one of the WORST things you can do. Your probation violation has to be addressed in California courts. If you go to Utah, you'll eventually be arrested on a warrant, then returned to California, where the judge will say, "Why should I give you another chance when you left the rehab then skipped out of the state, and we had to go to all this hassle and expense just to get you back?"
If you report to probation, at least you're demonstrating SOME willingness to follow orders.
If there was a simple way to handle situations like yours, lawyers would be standing on freeway exits with "work for food" signs because there would be no work for us.
