My brother worked as an independent contractor for a business owner who still owes him over $ 10,000. My brother pursued the case in Arbitration and received a non-jury verdict in his favor. However, we then learned that the owner sold the business and fled the state, so collecting from him was virtually impossible as we did not (and still do not) have an address. We recently discovered that the state prosecuted this person for identity theft. He was found guilty, and a judgment was rendered against him for thousands of dollars. What recourse, if any, does my brother have?
The state prosecutor may be willing to share information with you regarding this person's location, if the investigation is closed. You could hire a private investigator to try to track this person down wherever he may be at this time, and then transfer your PA judgment to that state and try to collect on it.
