I am trying to rent a condo in NJ. I have met existing tenant and he has good words for landlord. Land lord who lives in another state and communicates via email/phone has sent out application form which asks to provide personal information that may be misused if in wrong hands.
My question is :
Do potential land lord has legal right to ask for
1) my bank account number,
2) my employer's name and address, supervisor's name and contact number
3) my Driver's license number,
4) my Social security number
A landlord has a right to run a credit check on a potential tenant and all the items you listed are required for a credit check. If you don't provide it, the landlord does not have to rent.
