My dad sold a van with a wheelchair accessible ramp attached to the side door to a buyer. Cash was paid to my father, and the title was signed over to the buyer. No contract, verbal or written, were provided.
The buyer simply test drove it, liked it, paid in full in cash, and wanted to return a day later after the buyer stated that their person, in a wheelchair, would not fit into the van. According to the buy, their person was too tall.
You have no obligation to refund their money...you could if you chose...but determining if the vehicle worked for them, was their sole responsibility. You can refund if you chose to, but there is no legal requirement to do so. Further, if they attempt to claim it, there is no 3 day cooling off period for this type of purchase in NC.
