Hi , I was wondering if anyone new what law firm is representing individuals who might have a case. We received a letter from gm that stated that they were recalling certain gm vehicles with faulty switches. We were involved in a deadly accident because of this problem. I would like representation. Thank you.
There are a dozens of law firms that have significant experience and a track record of success handling catastrophic and wrongful death auto defect cases against General Motors. You can find them on the internet.
You want a law firm that has a great deal of successful experience in auto defect cases. You want a trial attorney who is known personally, on a first name basis by GM's defense attorneys. You want a lawyer that has the phone number of GM loss management people on his speed dial.
General Motors fights these cases as best they can. They are very good at it. Unless your attorneys are known by General Motors, they will get no respect and General Motors will try to run them into the ground. That doesn't mean that General Motors will roll over for the firms that have a track record of success against them but your case will go quicker and most likely reach a better result with the firms that have been successful against GM.
We are one of those law firms. We handled over a hundred auto defect cases. We were the first successful firm on an ignition switch case against GM. Our litigation team leader, Mr. Brian Chase, will be the President of CAOC (California's trial lawyers' association) as of Saturday. He has won three "Attorney of the Year" awards, all for auto defect cases. He settled an auto defect case yesterday for $5 million dollars that was brought to us in August from another law firm. He is scheduled to start trial on another one before the end of the month.
Mr. Chase's book on auto defects, "Still Unsafe At Any Speed" is the most complete book on auto defects since Ralf Nader's book on the same subject written forty years ago. You can find it on Amazon or call our office and get a free copy.
Get the best law firm that you can get to take your case. Act quickly as there are very strict time limits within which to act. Preserve the vehicle. It is your best evidence.
There are numerous law firms that are handling these types of cases. You should contact a personal injury attorney in your area, and they can either represent you, or likely put you in contact with a firm that is handling those types of cases. Sorry for your loss.
There are several firms. I would check the Virginia Trial Lawyers Ass'n website for attorneys who handle major product cases. As it's in Virginia you are probably better off with a Virginia attorney.
There are many firms handling these. You need to find and ask questions to find one you feel comfortable with. Beware some firms simply advertise to get cases and then refer them out to other specialized firms to get a referral fee.
Most of the current GM litigation involves a specific defect in the ignition device which may disable the engine and safety devices under ordinary driving conditions. Because the airbags are also disabled in the process, the occupants may sustain serious trauma.
You should ask enough to get a feel as to whether the firm will keep you in the loop and will personally handle your case or refer it out. Good luck!
