Can I run this check myself?
The background checks are run through the Florida Department of law-enforcement. Said department receives reports from other agencies and the FBI nationwide.
That having been said, whatever the background check they use, you're not to possess a firearm if you are a convicted felon. Otherwise, you are facing certain prison time if caught with a gun.

As previously stated, checks are run the the Florida Department of Law Enforcement database. They receive information from many different agencies (both federal and state) across the country. It is very unlikely that you would be able to run the same check yourself as those databases are for law enforcement only. You can try to run a background check through a private company but it may not be as encompassing as those performed by government agencies.
