Our electricity went out due to faulty wiring. After a week the landlord had someone come and fix it. The next morning it went out again and has been out for two days. it has been cold out , about 55 degrees at night. Another two days has passed and still no sign of when the situation will be fixed. To make matters worse we the restroom that we would use is an outhouse. Which we are OK with. But it was recently demolished by a fallen tree. So until fixed we are using a bucket with a toilet seat on it and having to dispose ourselves. Now with a huge storm coming in expected to bring lots of rain for up to a week's time, there will be no way to keep the kids warm. Especially after having to re leave themselves outside in the cold rain in the middle of the night. What responsibilities does my landlord have and what time line is there?
I am frankly shocked at the conditions you describe. I would suggest you go directly to the police or fire department and see what kind of emergency social services you can be offered until the house can be repaired such that you have a toilet and working electricity. On Monday you need to go to the county offices and report all this with photos and have them come out and inspect your house and cite the landlord.
