The original defendant has already been served and based on the response to the complaint, I believed that it would be best to add additional defendants. The complaint is the result of a multi vehicle car accident and is regarding a diminished value and loss of use claim.
File a motion for leave to add defendants. Your case is getting complicated and you would really be better served by hiring a lawyer.
Although AVVO describes this site as providing free legal advice, it is really a simple Q&A forum. The volunteer attorneys provide general answers. No specific legal advice is given here and no attorney-client relationship is established. For precise direction and legal advice, please consult in person with an attorney in your area. Be sure to bring all relevant paperwork with you.
Are you currently represented by counsel? Is there any reason you did not include the other defendants when you originally filed the complaint? How long has the case been pending? Has the statute of limitations ran? Is discovery still open?
If it is motor vehicle accident and you had insurance at the time, your carrier may have a provision that will afford you with an attorney to assist you. That said as my fellow attorney indicated, you can seek leave from the court to add additional parties. The court may or may not allow it depending upon the status of the case.
