My ex husband is planning on moving about 15 miles away across the border of Wisconsin to Minnesota. He won’t tell me where he’s moving to but I found this out. What is the law regarding moving less than 100 miles away and to another state? Does he legally have to notify me or can he move wherever he wants with the kids? He won’t communicate with me.
Even if it is less than 100 miles away, he is required to provide you with his new address within ten days of the move. The placement schedule would remain the same, as long as it does not interfere with the current placement and custody Order. The law was recently changed in which he could not move out of the State without your permission or a Court Order. Now, there is only the 100 mile restriction.
