My cousin was on trail for capital murder and lost and received life without parole the da didn’t have any physical evidence just a bunch of here say but he lost what’s the proper steps to appeal this conviction in the state of Texas
Your cousin will need to file a notice of appeal within 30 days after the life without parole sentence was verbally announced in court, or 90 days after that date if a motion for new trial was filed within 30 days after the sentence was verbally announced. If your cousin is indigent, he can request a court-appointed attorney for the appeal, and one will be appointed to represent him on appeal.
