I handle HR for a company in Los Angeles County with approx. 60 employees. The payroll software the company currently uses is CONFUSING! Company pays semi-monthly and depending on which button I push in payroll software I can get 3 different calculations for an employees pay. For instance, if I do the calculations based on a 24 hour day the numbers vary from that of a 7 day work week and changes again utilizing a semi-monthly calculator!? That's confusing and CONFUSING. Which is the RIGHT formula to use?
This is not the place to get an answer upon which you can rely to generate the payroll for 60 employees. There are lots of variants and factors that must be considered. Your prudent move is to locate and consult with an attorney and share all of the facts needed to get competent advice. Only then can you avoid creating substantial liability to your company as a result of improper payroll.
Good luck to you.
