Walmart let me go after a ticket from an officer and a court appearance!
You most likely have an infraction and will pay a fine. However, to give a more proper answer, one would need more details. Good luck.

Without more information, it is a bit difficult to answer the question. Assuming that your failure to scan a couple of items was an accident, it would have been nice if WalMart should have allowed you to pay for them. Since they did not, and have requested the police charge you with a crime, if you are under the age of 18, then you (and a parent or legal guardian) will have to appear in court. If you have no prior criminal history, I would expect a "non-judicial" resolution to the case, meaning that you just report to probation. If you have a criminal history, expect to appear before the court.
