Recently had a modification to child support in a Texas court order. The order states update to take effect on May 1st.
Your child support will be affective on May 1, irrespective of the processing time. The time is reflected from the date the court signed the order designating the effective date.
The new child support begins on May 1, 2016. They will normally issue a wage withholding order to your employer but this can take couple of weeks to go into effect. If your child support has increased, I would suggest you send in the additional amount until they start taking the correct amount out of your pay roll. If the obligation has gone down, any payment collected in excess of the new child support obligation will apply to any balance. If there is no balance, your case will go into what he call future pay or pre paid status. They will not refund you any additional money. Hope this answers your question.
