I filed for divorce, and had my spouse served by mail via a 3rd party. She filed a response late (which I understand if I had not yet filed a judgment, then I should not bother filing one), and she served the papers by mail directly to me from her - from what I understand, I am supposed to be served by a 3rd party. How does this affect the case, if at all?
It doesn't. Fighting over it will gain you nothing.
This is general advice. You are anonymous. If...
It is technically correct I wouldn't make an issue of it; you just delay the process and eventually get served anyway. The rule is in place to protect a party from a false allegation of service from the other party, but in your case you were actually served.
You could file a motion to quash the service of process because the service of process was improper.
