I have a suspended license in Spokane Washington. My husband got a DUI 2 years ago in my car and somehow they suspended my license because the car was in my name. Now I have to pay a huge fee in order to get my license back for something I didn't even do. I'm relocating to Georgia, and was wondering if my license would still be suspended outside of Washington?
You can check with either GA attorneys or GA Department of Licensing (it may be called a different name) to see whether GA is a member of the interstate compact.
There are a few states that are not members of the interstate compact.
Members of the interstate compact agree to honor the suspensions imposed by another member of the interstate compact. So, when suspended by one member of the interstate compact, a person's driver license is suspended in all member states.
You need to find out why your driver's license was suspended. Your husband likely caused property damages or personal injuries and there likely was no insurance coverage on the car your husband was driving. DoL would suspend the driver's license of the owner of the vehicle for not having insurance.
You need to fix whatever the problem is in WA to get a driver's license in another member state of the interstate compact.
