I had friend thats husband died of overdose and although they had been separated for years she was on the lease of their home still. I was in need of a place to stay. so moved in to a house about six months ago paying 1200.00 a month with no lease signed but I have utilities in my name.. when I moved in the house was far from livable and all the husbands belongings along with their mutual children's belongings were still here. Other than that of which the husbands girlfriend came to take moments after he died. Myself and a friend packed up all the remaining belongings for the wife and moved them to the garage for her to come get. Cleaned and painted got rid of trash that was in house. She after two weeks came sorted through some stuff took what she wanted. Month went by she came n got some of the things like TV surround sound.. month later came back sorted through stuff in garage again.. now months later i still have some of her things here but while i was at work one day she came n went through everything including my stuff in took what she wanted. Do I have any rights as to her entering my home while I'm not there without my permission?
Its called trespassing; its generally handled by the police. You can also sue for it, but its not usually worth the trouble.
When you live without a lease or don't own the property you subject yourself to the constant fear of litigation her ability to look through your items is likely more powerful than your argument for quiet enjoyment without a lease
