The guy who gave me a job with room and board and a promise of 100.00 bucks for every month I lasted there towards move outk fees kicked me out of his house after the job was done but didn't pay me the 1200.00 bucks he owes me. I was forced to move into a motorhome that I was in the process of renovating for my sister that he agreed I could keep on the property while I worked on it for her. He then said either pay 500 for the room your in in my house or stay in the mh and I'll only charge you 50 a month for rent and 50 for electric and utilities. At that time the motorhome didn't even have heat or running water, or hot water. I told him I didn't want to rent anything from him and to just pay me what he owes me so I could leave. Bottom line is it has been over 6 months and he hasn't made a substantial payment since! He also got his other tenant to hook up his truck to my mh. while my cat and I were in it and try to tow us down to the railroad tracks where he said he was going to leave us. Does the property owner have to evict me? or can he have me towed off the property. I have a contract.
The person who gave you a job for a $100 per month plus room and board owes you minimum wage for all hours worked. In addition, you are entitled wage statement penalties and late payment penalties. Finally, the employer is only entitled to a limited credit for rent if you have a signed written agreement authorizing the rent credit. You should file wage claim with the Labor Commissioner or contact a lawyer for assistance.
