Last Sunday I went to the beach and I apparently hit a car and didn’t know it and drove off and then when I got back from the beach there was a cop at my car waiting for me and he said my car match the description so he gave me a ticket for a hit-and-run because I left the scene
I have a good idea; don't miss your court date; go there and tell the Judge and the Prosecutor you are pleading not guilty and want to hire a lawyer. Do not spill your guts trying to talk your way out of this serious ticket-what you say can and WILL be used against you.
Get back to us here at AVVO and check out our attorney profiles and contact one of us to help you.
Depending on when this court date is: check out the lawyers first.
This ticket has a six month suspension of NJ privileges. Don't fool around.
If you miss your date your privilege to drive in NJ will be suspended and a warrant issued for your arrest. You can contact the court to request a brief adjournment or to plead not guilty. You will then be given a new trial date. I suggest you consider hiring an experienced traffic ticket attorney to protect your rights.
If you miss your court date a warrant will issue in most cases for your arrest and your license may be suspended (at least in NJ it will). By missing your court date you will be making matters much worse for you as a good lawyer may be able to eliminate the jail component of the offense and the license suspension of 6 months that you face. Hire a good lawyer to help you with this and you may only end up with a fine and maybe some points, don't and you face the penalties I described above. The tickets and any warrant once issued don't go away with time, so best to take care of this now and get the least penalties instead of increased penalties you will face when you fail to appear for court.

If you miss the date an FTA will issue and maybe a warrant. If a warrant does not issue right away it will if you miss a second set date. Any law enforcement officer will arrest you if they see the warrant. Airports have law enforcement there. NJ will notify Pa. Both States are members of a compact to enforce their tickets. So Pa is supposed to suspend your license. From what you say there may be a defense to the charge. Why not retain an attorney and have them appear for you and check it out. The sentence if convicted is $200-400, 2 points, 6 months license suspension (in your case NJ privileges that Pa may or may not enforce- speak to a PA attorney on that).
Your privileges to drive in New Jersey will be suspended, which may have an effect on your Pennsylvania license. A warrant will also issue for your arrest. Contact an attorney before the court date to avoid this happening.

I am licensed in New Jersey and my answers are based upon the law in that jurisdictions. My answer to any specific question would likely be different if I were to review a client's file and have the opportunity to interview the client. Accordingly, I strongly urge you to retain an attorney in your jurisdiction with respect to any legal matter.
