If I have settled credit card debt and paid lump sum in full but a judgement is issued before the complaint is dropped could I have to pay the judgement on top of the settlement?
Not if you have a written agreement from the Plaintiff saying that if a judgment is entered, it will be cancelled. The problem is, once you have a judgment entered it remains on your credit report even after the judgment is settled or paid - the credit report is just updated to show a "paid civil judgment" or something similar. Play it safe and either get the 30 days extension of time or file an Answer by the date your Answer is due.
