This situation has been going on for near to 3 months. Originally I went to the dealership to get a car and was approved. The dealership could not get the title so the bank sent back the money and voided the previous contract. Then they tricked my fiancé to go up to the dealership saying that he was getting the plates for the vehicle and had him sign papers on my behalf. My fiancé said he did not sign for a new contract. The dealership offered to buy back the vehicle but never did. If I didn’t sign for the new contract am I liable for the new loan? This incident happened in Virginia but I live in North Carolina.
I agree with Attorney Love that contacting a Virginia lawyer would be appropriate, since the transaction complained of occurred there; you would want to contact a lawyer who practices in contract and/or commercial law. You can search using Avvo's "Find a Lawyer" feature, in addition to any other local or online referral resources you have at your disposal. Best wishes in working through this, and in your winter holidays.
