What happens at a plea hearing for a felony in wisconsin

You cannot be sentenced unless you enter a plea of guilty or are found guilty at trial. Make sure you understand the proceedings so that you make the right decision about your future.
For a plea date in Milwaukee, you may do any number of things. You may enter a guilty plea and request a different sentencing date. You may enter a guilty plea and go to sentencing that day. Or, you could ask to set the case for a motion or trial. You do not have to actually enter a plea on a plea date.
For a felony case, I strongly urge you to consult with a local, experienced criminal defense attorney before taking any action. If you cannot afford a private attorney, you should contact the local public defender's office. If you do not qualify for public defender assistance, you may ask the court to appoint a low cost attorney to your case (something else you could do on a plea date in Milwaukee....).
Hope that helps.
