my fiance is sitting jail for burglary. He's had someone already testify that he wasn't involved. But his attorney is taking his case to trial. On the 5th he is suppose to wave his right to a speedy trial. On the court website it says That Amended trial information was done. What does that exactly mean when they go and amen your trial information?
The trial information in Iowa is the document that forms the basis and provides notice of the criminal charges and a general statement of the facts supporting the charges. If it was amended, that means that either the charges or the facts supporting the basis for the charges were amended.

It means that the county attorney changed something in the Trial Information (the formal charging document). The Trial Information is often amended to add charges, remove charges, enhance or decrease a charge, or change the description of the existing charges.

The other two answers are correct. I would only add that it is not unusual for the trial information to be amended to either enhance or downgrade charges as the county attorney’s office gets a better handle on the strength (or weakness) of their case or as new facts or witnesses come to light. It’s often amended at or before a plea hearing where the plea agreement is that the defendant will plead to lesser charges.
