It may be worth visiting with an attorney who practices in the area of debt relief and bankruptcy to discuss this matter in more detail and to go over your options ASAP. Many attorneys who practice in these areas offer free consultations with no obligation. The attorney will likely have alot of questions about the specifics of your situation in order to advise you properly.
This is not legal advice. There is no established attorney/client relationship between us. Talk an attorney licensed in your state for formal legal advice on this matter.
1) if your only source of income is your Social Security disability checks, then even if the go to court and get a judgment against you, they can’t garnish your bank account if the only money in your bank account is your money from Social Security.
2) You may want to speak to a bankruptcy attorney to see what your options are - you may be able to discharge the debt through bankruptcy. But in any event, the credit card company or their collection agency cant reach your Social Security disability payments no matter what they try to to tell as long as you dont co-mingle your social security money with other monies.
