I am 16 and I was caught shopliftng yesterday, it was not my first time but this was my first time getting caught. I was under pressure and panicked and told them I never did. But I have a court date or juvenile board and lying under oath is a crime itself but I'm scared if I say it wasn't my first time it will make things so much worse even if I say I will never do it again. What should I do and how will this change the situation of what could happen??
It doesn't sound like you committed perjury. Juvenile court and juvenile board are different things. You have to attend whatever it is on the date of the summons. Your parents or guardian will also need to attend. This could play out a few different ways. It could be a judicial review board, it could go nonjudicial or it could proceed in juvenile court. If you go to court, you should at least speak to an attorney.
