We are trying to move and the Credit applications are being denied / declined because the Current landlord will not return calls to confirm rental and payment history. This action is effectively holding us back from being able to move and causing our applications to be rejected due to an inability to prove the rental and payment history.
Your landlord has no legal duty to provide references for you, good or bad.
You need to ask your prospective landlords what else you can do to show that you are a good tenant.
Perhaps, if you had rented somewhere else before, those other landlords would provide a reference for you.
I agree with the previous answer and what you can do is show the new landlord your old lease, move in/out checklist, and proof of rental payments.
