I am a UT resident and have a UT drivers license. I just plead guilt to a DWI in another state. MY BAC was .21. I was convicted of being in control. (I was sitting in a parking lot drinking with the engine running). Since the arrest, I spent 4 continuous days in jail, blew into a SCRAM unit twice per day for 124 days. I was sentenced to 15 days EHM less the 4 days spent in jail. I am now on day 4 of the 11 days, blowing into an iSECUREtrac unit with gps and breathalyzer.
Will UT suspend my license?
If so, for how long?
If so, can I get a work permit?
Will I be req'd to to have a vehicle interlock?
If so for how long?
The answer will depend on what the agreement is between Utah and the state where you are in terms of Drivers Licenses. In Utah, a first DUI carries a suspension of 120 days. The Utah DLD will also require an interlock device for at least a year. There is no work permit in Utah for a short suspension like that. The best thing to do would be to call the Utah DLD at (801) 965-4437. Good luck!
